Stopcock

Stopcock port ends accept 6.35 mm ID tube
for vaccum suction. PTFE plug is three way
i.e. for vacuum suction, shutting-off and

Plate

a thick perforated. Polythene plate, nomerous
holeas are provided for air tranfer and support
of dishes, plate has a centre hole for easy

Microscope : The vernier microscope is a instrument fro use in schools and colleges.
The cariage slides on a cast iron base guided
by a machine vee and flat. The carriage
may be adjustment by manual pressure, and
then, with a licking screw at the end of
the slide. The carriage carries the vernier,
and a swing-over magnifier, permitting measurements
to be made to an accuracy of 0.01 mm. The
carriage has two locations for the microscope,
one on the carriage top face and the other
on the side enabling the microscope to be
mounted with its axis in any one of three
positions with respect to travel. An index
mark on the incroscope mount is matched
to a mark on the carriage to ensure correct
alingment.
The base caries a metal stage plate which
can be removed if disered. The microscope
is focused by a rach and pinion and is fitted
with a glass crossline graticule and a draw
tube.

Apparatus : The Apparatus is very useful
in the determination of melting point of
any substance in smell quantity upto 300°
C. It consists of an aluminium block which
accepts three capillary tubes and a mercury
thermometer. The block is heated by two
elements clamped to the sides. The built
in lamp provides uniform and shadowless
illumination of sample tube which are viewed
through the magnifying lens against eithera
dark or bright back ground selected by rotating
a knob to the rear of the apparatus. A built
in rotatory rheostate gives accurate adjustment
of the rate of increase of temperature as
melting is approched. Both the heaters are
kept on in the low as well as high position
of the toggle switch, thus ensuring uniform
heating from both the sides of the block.
A second toggle switch on the right side
contracts the lamp and power input to the
apparatus. Heating block and controls are
enclosed in enamel painted metal case. Works

water. The body of still is made of stainless
sheet, polished. The condenser tube is made
